MARION, Ill. – It was a soggy start to the day, but that didn’t stop fans from enjoying the 3rd annual Take Me Out to the Car Show! The event held June 8th at Mtn Dew Park in Marion featured a car show, music, food trucks, a burnout contest, and 20 sponsor booths with giveaways and raffles. Rain early in the day gave way to sunny skies in time for the awards presentation, where 35 prizes were handed out. Three lucky winners also walked away with a new set of tires or wheels! “We just want to thank everyone for their support of Take Me Out to the Car Show. We couldn’t put on an event like this without the help of our sponsors, the team at Mtn Dew Park, and all those that come out each year,” said Shawn Hughes, president of Interstate Tire Pros Auto Service. Proceeds from this year’s show were split between Hospice of Southern Illinois, whose mission is to “enhance the quality of life for individuals and their loved ones touched by a terminal illness,” and the Gary Sinise Foundation, which offers unique programs for veterans, service members, first responders and their families.
